I have been directing children's theatre for over thirty years now, having started directing in 1978, in a little town called Trenton, Ontario, in Canada, when I was only 16 years of age. I had written a children's musical and held auditions, and ended up with the whole town backing me up, providing me with rehearsal space at the local rotary club, a way to record my own music at the local radio station, and a place to perform at the local high school. Read more: Welcome What We Believe Our expectation for each and every member of the cast is that they achieve their personal best. We recognize that each performer is at their own level of talent and experience and each child is special for their own reasons. That is the philosophy that we work under in running New Star. This is not a theatre company for "Stars" but one that makes EVERY performer a STAR for their performances. What We Do New Star Children's Theatre in Fair Oaks, California serves the greater Sacramento area. We produce both original as well as classic Broadway musical productions with children ranging in age from 4 to 17 years old. Set in the 1970's in Chicago our story follows the struggles and ultimate triumphs of our reluctant hero Stewey. Stewey and his friends are avid sports fans and enjoy spending their spare time reading the latest issue of their favorite comic book "Boy Wonder" as they pretend to be superheroes themselves. And what would a superhero be without a villian? Stewey and his friends are bullied by a group of girls at school they have dubbed, the "Trio of Terror". While the bullying is definitely a problem for Stewey and his friends, they are about to discover there is an even more villainous evil at work at LaSalle Elementary School, none other than the Rhyme-Meister and his sidekick the Diletante. How will Stewey and his friends overcome the Trio of Terror? Will they discover the truth about the mysterious holes that keep appearing at LaSalle Elementary School? The story is full of hilarious twists and turns and chock full of great musical numbers. Come join us as Stewey learns what it truly means to be a superhero.
